You moved into a house with an existing home security system
Sometimes when you close on a house, a security system is already in use. All the components work, are placed in the right places, and are ready to go. In this example, you might find that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come out to make sure there are no compatibility issues, and they could offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary visit, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The old owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up cost to make the process easier. If the owners are moving to an apartment complex or smaller home, transferring the security contract may be an addendum of the sale.
You need to move and bring your home security equipment with you
You might want to take your existing smart devices with you to your new house when you move. It should be fairly simple to transfer, as many alarms and smart devices are portable. You can remove each device yourself or use a professional expert to take care of the system. Then our installers will put in the same features -- and any additions you need to have -- in your new house. And your home security contract will keep the same.
